Eighteen-year-old Christy Kane has always been Daddy’s princess. But on the first day of her music internship at his mega-church, reporters shatter her world with terrible news Daddy’s had an affair with the church preschool director. Christy feels as betrayed by God as the man she’s always considered Prince Charming. When Mom sends her to Buckeye Lake to help with Aunt Jo’s School of Music and Dance in the restored Pier Ballroom, Christy’s problems only increase. First, the ballroom sits on Buckeye Lake, making her face her greatest fear—water. Second, she must help lead a handful of semi-talented volunteers, who harbor racial tensions and mysterious underlying antagonisms, in a professional quality performance for the Grand Reopening of the ballroom. The stakes are high—Aunt Jo will lose the place if they fail. Third, Christy discovers a diary written by Lillian, who lived near Buckeye Lake in the 1920s, and becomes intrigued by the stories of thousands coming to play at the amusement parks and dance in the ballrooms. But her interest soon turns to concern as tragic events from the diary happen in Christy’s world, ninety years to the date of their first occurrence. Between her shattered past, her uncertain future, and her dangerous present, Christy doesn’t know where to turn. Does Daddy’s God really exist? If so, does He care enough to rescue her?

Christy was starting her internship at her Daddy's church when her life was forever changed . Running from the mess her family was in, she ends up helping her Aunt Jo with her music school. Soon she is determined to make her aunts venture a sucess, but there is someone trying to recreate the events of the past that lead to the death of many people. Will Christy reconcile with her family and with God?

This was a great read. I haven't read anything else by this author before, but this captivated my attention. I loved the mystery and the faith interwoven onto the story. Very well done!

I received a copy of this book free for a fair and honest review.
Good mystery! I finished it in one day; I couldn’t put it down. The main character, Christy, has a fairy tale type life. She’s always been Daddy’s princess, never lacking for anything. She’s worked toward one goal, to help her father in his ministry. Christy has finally arrived! That is until Christy’s idyllic world is shattered and she has no idea what to do. She quickly discovers she will have to confront all she believes, fears, and thinks she knows. The book goes back and forth in time, developing a mystery that is repeating itself. Right up to the very end the reader is questioning who the villain was then and is now. As the reader your faith, motives and actions are challenged along with Christy. Highly recommend.
Christy Kane idolizes her dad, a well-known prosperity preacher. When she learns he’s been involved in an improper relationship, his apologies only drive her further from the man she thought she knew. She escapes to a relative’s lake house for the summer, intending to help stage a musical event in the old Pier Ballroom and hopefully save it from foreclosure.
Problem #1 Christy is aquaphobic, and the ballroom is located over a lake.
Problem #2 Several of the other young people who are helping with the event seem to have it out for her for reasons she can’t understand or fathom.
Problem #3 A series of mishaps threaten to keep the show from going on, and they’re all detailed in a 1920’s era diary Christy finds in a dresser in her room.
This book has so many levels to appeal to teen readers. There’s the issue of prejudice, not only of skin color but financial status. There are personal issues of phobias and friendships and putting one’s faith in a person rather than the truth of the gospel. There’s the issue of forgiveness. And there’s a generational aspect to it all—how the sins of the past can be handed down from one generation to another.
With a large cast of characters, many of whom are no longer living, the reader might want to make notes to keep all the different relationships straight. But I thoroughly enjoyed reading Color-blind and intend to check out the author’s other books.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love when historical memoirs are mixed into contemporary stories. Enjoyable storyline with an underlying mystery. Loved the truth that was revealed.
This is a wonderful book for any age but a great read for young people. Highly recommend for anyone who loves mystery, suspense and history. Blake did a fabulous job.
A strong story based lightly on some true history that I wish had never been. But it was. I was disappointed in the main character not contacting either of her parents for weeks, despite all that happened. But, considering the pain in the family at the moment, I understood her complete blackout of her family.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Colorblind. The author does a great job in developing the characters and their backgrounds and the story line keeps you entertained, wondering what will happen. I couldn't put the book down. I can't wait for the third book in the series!
